Demystifying The "hague"
InformAction an non-profit media company with a focus on social Justice has
partnered with SmartCitizens to provide civic education on the International
Criminal court process commonly known as the Hague.
SmartCitizens mobilizes the community while InformAction provides the films and
content. Civic education has been taking place in Bomet and Narok County. The
sessions have been highly interactive and have drawn the participation of both
young, old, women and men members of the communities.
The content is new and empowering to the community. This is because of lack of
objective information on the International Criminal Court process. In the last
two weeks InformAction and SmartCitizens have held four forums and have reached
six hundred participants.
In the next three weeks InformAction and SmartCitizens intend to hold six more
forums and aim to reach nine hundred participants. We will put up the venues
and times on our events calender.
InformAction aims to provide films and other content that are accessible to the
communities that are often subjects in the films, while providing regional and
international perspectives on the themes involved.SmartCitizens mission is to
creatively and innovatively collect, collate and disseminate objective information
that will enable citizens participate in an informed and active non-violent manner
in governance processes that affect their lives.
The civic education process in Bomet and Narok is a great opportunity for both
organizations too bring positive change to the communities they are currently
serving in.
