A Study On The Level Of Understanding Of Devolved Government

SmartCitizens a National Non Organization with its field progamme office in Bomet town intends to gauge the level of community's understanding on the devolved government by carrying out a rapid assessment study targeting Bomet County. The study which aims at reaching a target 500 sample study who are residents of the county. The interviews will also cover all ages, persons with disabilities and both male and females in a more or equal number in population so that a real picture is achieved in the level of understanding without prejudiced. The study will cover the entire county as follows:

1. Longisa division.
2. Bomet Central division
3. Sigor division.
4. Siogiroi division.
5. Mutarakwa division.
6. Ndanai division.
7. Sotik division.
8. Konoin division.
9. Kimulot division.

The study will assist in determining if the community members have adequate information on devolved government, its leadership and governance and service delivery expected to allow them make an informed decision even in electing county leadership in 2012 general election.

The study objectives are:

  1. To assess and gauge the level of understanding on devolved government among the residents of Bomet County.
  2. To find out the proportion of population who are fully conversant on the expected services that will be offered by the County.
  3. To determine how much the community members know about the leadership and governance of the county government.
