Task Force On Devolved Government

Smart Citizens in preparation for presentation to the task force on reforms held focused group discussions with several groups in Bomet County.The groups included youth, professionals,and business community.

The discussions included

• Cooperative Government, Inter - Governmental Relations and Levels of Governance
• Functions of and Service delivery by County Governments
• Financial Resources and Management in County Governments
• Political Governance, Leadership,Accountability and Integrity in County Governments
• Public participation and oversight and protection of minorities and marginalized groups

We reached a 90 leaders in the focused groups discussion. The result was 400 participants during the hearing.

The 90 leaders have now formed reforms cafes in their neighbourhoods and continue to disseminate information gained during the training.

The 90 leaders are involved in a study to gauge the level of awareness among the citizens on issues regarding devolved system of government.

We will release the results of the study mid march.
